Investigate them for abuse and neglect, sure, but there's no way to force a kid that age to go to school. You could physically pick them up and bring them if they are small enough and there's a parent who is big enough, I guess, but if a kid doesn't want to go to school and CFSA isn't moving them to a group home or something, the parents are stuck. Not saying there are good parents here--I have no idea--but throughout DC there are kids who won't go to school even though their parents would desperately like them to do so, and there are no services for those families.[/quote]

Indeed, kids that aren’t in school have such good outcomes…. Such as carjacking and murder. Kids need to go to school so the government can help them when they have absolutely sh*t parents like these girls. If they had been taken away from their negligent parents, this may have never happened.

Public school isn't going to teach them the skills they need to become CEOs. It's not clear that school serves any useful purpose. If you want to learn to read and write, that should be up to the individual. If a business needs employees with particular skills, it should be the burden of the business to train the those employees. Why is it the govenrment's job to produce workers for private businesses? So?  What kind of weird expectation is it that everyone should become a CEO?  If everyone's a CEO then who does the work?   CEO's are grossly overpaid and overrated for the most part, anyhow.  And do you think businesses want to teach people from scratch?  Many jobs need you to at least be able to read, do basic math and so on.  An electrician needs to be able to read and understand electrical codes, permits, installation instructions and so on, and to be able to do enough math to size components, calculate a bill of materials and so on.  Illiterate people are useless to many employers.  And if you think things are expensive now think of how much more expensive things will get when employers have to spend a big chunk of time educating people before they are even usable as employees?  What a really dumb take you have that we should abolish schools and have business teach everyone. [/quote]

Why do these people need to have jobs? What makes you think anyone wants to be an electrician? Again, you are arguing for the government to create workers. The governments job is to create and protect citizens. But sure, let's play your game. When was the last time the guy working the McDonald's register diagramed a sentence for you? Did he correctly use the subjunctive tense while taking your order? Students aren't attending school because it isn't interesting and it isn't teaching them anything they need to know. Why do you worry about fixing schools first before trying to force kids to learn.[/quote]
