I haven't played tennis is years and even I know you need a flat, thin sole for the shoes you play tennis in (so you can stop abruptly and turn without falling off them. The serious runners I know have a pair of shoes that they only use for running.

Yes. My Asics tennis shoes are for tennis only. I wouldn’t want to run a mile in them, they’re  meant to support lateral movement and and aren’t all that cushioned. I have a different pair of ASICS for running, they feel completely different and don’t give enough ankle support for tennis. [/quote]

Agree! And I have even a designated pair for clay surface as well. Pretty sure I say ;tennis shoes" and for both unless I need to distinguish. [/quote]
