I don't bring the kids, but I do plenty of backcountry hiking and camping in remote areas without cell reception. I have both a PLB and an Inreach in case of emergencies, my family knows where I will be and when I expect to return. In OP's situation I'd want kid help and more adult company but otherwise would absolutely go. [/quote]
