I’m hoping to move to to an area zoned to Wootton and unlikely to be redistricted. Looking at Dufief, Stone Bridge, and Hunting Woods. Possibly Willows. Any opinions on which of those are more safe than others?
You need to look in neighborhoods which currently do not get bus service to Wootton, i.e. the "walk zone." https://www2.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/siteassets/district/departments/transportation/busroutes/04234bus.pdf If there are Wootton bus stops in a neighborhood, then kids can be rezoned and ride a bus to another school. If the neighborhood kids currently walk to Wootton, they will remain walkers.
It seems like 60%+ of the current boundary is closer to another HS. It would be nice if MCPS prioritized neighborhood schools and made these boundaries more compact to reduce busing costs.
