People who own guns are far more likely to die by gunshot and/or kill someone they know.

On the other hand, the number of gun nuts who have actually stopped a crime in progress can be counted on your hands.

OP, you really think you're going to whip that thing out and kill some kid? You said in your original post that you would happily give up your wallet and car keys, yet you will be standing in front of a criminal with a hidden gun. Are you really planning to pull it out and shoot them?

More likely, you will try to pull it out, they will knock you down, and -- you're another of the many, many, many gun owners killed by their own guns statistic.
