I think OP deserves that backlash she is getting -- not from the original question -- but from her negative comments regarding Silver Spring/Langley Park and DCC high schools. I think it can be fairly said that all/most parents want what is "best" for their children but she stepped in big pile of poop when she equated/defined "best" (for her children) as Bethesda/Whitman/Churchill, etc. But it seems to me that she eventually got the information she seemed to be looking for -- so maybe the backlash was worthwhile and this thread can rest in peace.
OP stated she grew up in Langley Park/Silver Spring, so she's basing her opinions on her own knowlege & experience. You may feel different but that doesn't make her opinion less valid. Hell, there have been people on here who slam Wootton, while I'd give my left arm to be able to afford a house in that district. Doesn't mean Wootton sucks, it's an OPINION.
Langley Park is in PG County. Silver Spring is in MoCo. One has nothing to do with the other, schools-wise, government-wise, or otherwise.
Does not matter what county they are in - they are similar. I am sure there are some really nice families in Langley Park and they are happy with their kids education. It's offensive that you think silver spring is so much better. Racist.
They are not similar. I live in Silver Spring and work near Langley Park and they are not at all similar. Nothing similar about them at all.
The silver spring defenders always say - just because you drive through it going to work doesn't mean you know silver spring. There are just a lot of people on Dcum with chips on their shoulder and offended that some of us would never, ever, ever live in silver spring. But they are so comfortable saying Langley park and silver spring are nothing alike and they would never live in Langley park. And then turn around and call people who would never live in Ss racists. It's lame and boring. I do not livein th W districts. BTW
I'm the PP who said that Silver Spring and Langley Park are nothing alike. My post about that was my first post on this thread, and that is all I said - that they are nothing alike. I did not say one is better than the other, I did not say I would never live in Langley Park, and I said nothing about race. You inferred/extrapolated from my post these thoughts. I did not think them, and I did not express them. I stand by that post: Silver Spring and Langley Park are completely different places, and are nothing alike.
