Straight male non-smoking, non-drinking friend got throat cancer from HPV. He didn’t die but he did have to get cancer treatment - radiation, chemo, etc. He is Gen X, like me. We did not have access to HPV vaccine and even in monogamous straight relationships were exposed to HPV for long periods, which in men who perform oral sex without protection (dental dams and safe oral sex were also not so common in Gen X), can lead to cancer.
