As a parent this seems so obvious to me. Why don't admin and other higher ups in MCPS listen to teachers like you though as they ram these Honors-for-all models into our schools?

Because everything these days is about the kids at the bottom. Honors classes improve student gpa’s and MCPS and other districts want to act like they are helping the bottom 25% of kids.  No matter that learning is reduced across the board, the optics look good. And unfortunately due to structural issues in our society, honors classes have more white kids while on-level classes have more minority students. This is a big no no these days from an equity standpoint. All of this has led to the current mess of honors for all. [/quote]
