Lol it’s not that they can’t handle it. It’s that they have enough income to have other options when things go south. And yes, some men don’t like that. See Steven Crowder.
This. They have the jobs and financial possibility to leave the men who dont pull their weight as partners.
+1 you treat me or our kids badly, we're out
The kids aren’t “out.” It’s not like they divorce their father, and it’s not like their care of custody defaults to their mother, nor should it be. If anything, if mom wants to leave, fine, but the kids get to stay with dad since mom’s abandoning the family.
Eh, my ex was present but about as active a parent as a plant. When he emptied the children's custodial accounts to pay for a compulsive art purchase that's when I finally awakened to how bad a future tethered to this guy would be. I do have to own my stupidity for marrying him. The kids spend time with him regularly but he is happy not to deal with them unless it is to parade these well-turned out children in front of his parents (he has been waiting for them to die for years). My 15 year old asked me during my Mother's Day lunch - "Do you know dad's alcohol tolerance?" I was flummoxed, such a weird question, I didn't know how to answer but could only ask, "Why do you ask?" "Because he drnks, like, maybe a bottle by himself during dinner". So so glad not to be married to that anymore AND not normalizing this lifestyle for my kids by silently condoning it as his spouse.
