They are great but had unrealistic expectations of what a partner and a relationship would be like and it closed them off to really great people. But I also don’t think anyone HAS to get married and if you are happy alone, more power to you. I do think 50s is when some regret sets in though because you start thinking about the end of your life and actually being alone all the way through. My divorced friends embrace that thought, the ones who never married can’t always. I also know a few who really wish they’d had kids. They could have done it in their own financially, but again, they were looking for an ideal and not willing to compromise to get at least some of what they wanted.[/quote]
