The irony is that the entire reason for DC’s economic prosperity is that we are the Federal city and uniquely empowered to benefit from Federal government activity and the physical presence of Congress and the executive branch, but nobody wants to admit that this properly comes with a unique governance structure, as clearly outlined in the Constitution. No Congress, no Federal city, this town is Baltimore and all the people whining about home rule would immediately move someplace else for their activist/lobbyist/GS-14 jobs[/quote]
