Yes, Woodward aim is to help WJ in overcrowding. But when doing the process, it's best to look at all adjacent boundaries to come up with something which does not involve long bus ride and also create diverse schools. That means diverse schools as much as possible in as many schools without having long bus rides. BCC, Churchill etc may not have overcrowding, but all boundaries should be looked at same time. That may mean shifting school population in Churchill. Whitman, BCC, WJ, DCC , Wootton, RM ....

It will be criminal for BOE to not do what's best for entire student population and simply listen to nonsense like Woodward is for WJ.

This is the best time to do widescale boundary change. Current set of parent getting angry should never be a reason to not do what's best for next 30 years.[/quote]

needs at Walter Johnson High School and the
Downcounty Consortium high schools,[/b] an
FY 2019 appropriation was approved for plan-
ning funds to reopen Charles W. Woodward High
School. The scheduled completion date for this
project is August 2023, for the first phase and
August 2025, for the new high school. Northwood
High School also will be utilized to address the
space needs in the Downcounty Consortium. With
respect to Northwood High School, an analysis
was completed that evaluated a) the possibility of
doing a phased construction of Northwood High
School, with students on site and b) an approach
where a newly constructed and reopened Charles
W. Woodward High School be used as a holding school, starting in August 2023, for Northwood High School
for two years. The evaluation compared the costs for each
option, impact to students, impact on the building design,
and the timeline of the project. Based on this analysis, the
Board of Education approved that Charles W. Woodward
High School be used as a holding school, starting in August
2023, for Northwood High School, for two years. Northwood
High School would return to its facility in August 2025, and
Charles W. Woodward High School will open in August
2025. An FY 2022 appropriation was approved to continue
construction to reopen Charles W. Woodward High School.
An FY 2023 appropriation was requested for construction cost
increases and the balance of construction funds. However,
due to fiscal constraints, the County Council, in the adopted
FY2023-2028 CIP, delayed this project one year. The additional
expenditures were approved, but the reopening of the high
school is scheduled to be completed August 2026. An FY2024
appropriation is recommended for construction cost increases.
