One of my best friends from there is a physician with deeply religious and conservative political views, while I am firmly in the liberal democrat camp.

The point being we all listened to each other, we had different views but this was okay because it was approached from a sincere, thoughtful, intellectual, respectful angle.

If DeSantis turns it into a Hillsdale, that will be gone.

New College used to be private, by the way. But the nature of the school and its self-selecting student body made it expensive to run, and the state offered a deal where it would remain in charge and operate its own way, independently, if could be considered the state’s honors college.
