If you want to reduce crime in dc you have to bring back nyc stop and frisk. You have to have cops on the ground 24/7 walking the beat and being present. And as others have said, dc, md, va. They all need strong constitutional carry and stand your ground and 100% homestead/ property protection. If I blow away some punk caught breaking into my car, the only thing I should ever have to deal with is a big thank you for taking out the trash. No threat of jail, prosecution, etc. 100% protection from any and all recourse. Then DC will become safer.
In this world you describe, even criminals can get away with murder because they can just claim the person was breaking into their car and make sh*t up. I don't want to live in that world.
No, you’d actually have to have some evidence. But criminals need consequences. Not that you should admit it, but I highly doubt you live in a high crime neighborhood.
I do not want a world of vigilante justice where people kill for a car break in and your life isn't remotely in danger. I am sister to a state police officer and good friends with a few other cops who are MPD. Nobody wants a vigilante world including them. And FWIW, I live in NE DC in a high crime area highly criticized in DCUM whenever the neighborhood is mentioned. A car break in is worth a call to the police. Not some dumb idiot who thinks he's rambo or hopped up on his latest game of COD now shooting into a DC street when nobody's life is in danger. If a life is actually in danger, go forth, but make sure you can actually shoot because wild DC shots are known to penetrate windows. I've got friends who found bullets in their house and know of a parent who found a bullet in their kid's crib. If your wild shooting at someone for a bleeping car break in ended up meaning a bullet landed in my house, let alone harmed a member of my family, I'd sue the crap out of you.
