Wait, people still test for Covid?
RIGHT!
Why wouldn't you test if you have symptoms and are sick? I know you all aren't alone in thinking that but that is irresponsible when there is still so much sickness around.
Why would you test for Covid? Are you suggesting that if you’re sick, but are negative for Covid, then you can carry on like normal? Otherwise, how are you expecting it to affect behavior?
Because if you have COVID you need to isolate at least 5 days (in our family we wait longer if rapid test isn't negative yet by 5 days.) With other illnesses we go back to work/school a day after we're better, or for mild colds don't stay home at all. Do you seriously not test anymore? Do you not act any differently if you're contagious with COVID that can hospitalize and kill people you spread it to, versus having a cold that just runs the risk of giving someone the sniffles? That's... a really interesting set of morals you've got there.
You realize other viral infections can still be contagious after you feel better, don’t you? But, like covid, the risk of transmission is significantly reduced at that point, so we’ve collectively agreed that it isn’t worth it to continue isolating for common illnesses under those circumstances. There's no reason to treat covid differently, particularly when its about as serious in vaccinated people as the flu is. How long have you historically isolated for the flu after a fever subsided?
