MCPS will bury any specific school Covid news. It doesn’t fit their narrative that everything is normal and schools are doing great!
Do they normally broadcast other staff illnesses? That would be weird.

I told them I’d fill out the Covid reporting form online. Parents are probably not as conscientious and are not filling out the form.
It’s not mandatory anymore so why would people fill it out. Who really wants to give up their private health information if it’s not required. I was fine with filling out the form before it was voluntary. But since it’s voluntary and we are not going to have accurate counts I’m not doing it if my kid gets covid. What’s the purpose?
It was never "mandatory."
Yes, thankfully we don’t live in China. People could (or not) self-report when they wanted. And opt out of testing in school, if desired. Thank goodness.

I would warn parents and staff to check their school covid dashboards and if you've found the same issue that you take anything MCPS says with a grain of salt.
It's clear that the current Central Office is rotten to the core.

RIGHT!
Why wouldn't you test if you have symptoms and are sick? I know you all aren't alone in thinking that but that is irresponsible when there is still so much sickness around.
Why would you test for Covid? Are you suggesting that if you’re sick, but are negative for Covid, then you can carry on like normal? Otherwise, how are you expecting it to affect behavior?
Because if you have COVID you need to isolate at least 5 days (in our family we wait longer if rapid test isn't negative yet by 5 days.) With other illnesses we go back to work/school a day after we're better, or for mild colds don't stay home at all.
Do you seriously not test anymore? Do you not act any differently if you're contagious with COVID that can hospitalize and kill people you spread it to, versus having a cold that just runs the risk of giving someone the sniffles? That's... a really interesting set of morals you've got there.
