There are lots of super unhelpful replies here (seems like a gamer crowd caught wind of this maybe?). Probably none of them parents of 5yos or if they are, they seem like bad ones. Maybe they also think it's ok to inflict actual violence on their kids--who knows. Trust your instincts about protecting your kid from the harsh reality of life until he/she is older and can process it better.

Sorry that won't help you with the husband issue. He's got to agree or you have to start taking the kid out of the room when it happens. That's not a great bargain for you, but I bet this isn't the only issue where he isn't great.[/quote]
