He'll yeah! I played Mortal kombat as a kid, I love Noob Saibot. I knew games are fake, im not stupid.
Is fun and fantasy. I rather played games than doing drugs like others. I was a good kid, never went to nightclubs to have random sex or get drunk. Just normal, go to school, play videogames, have fun with family and friends. I was semi poor. And now I have a great job abd I can enjoy it buying all the stuff, action toys I want, games.

What does it say about you that you define FUN and FANTASY as killing people?

Do you just make this up? It’s like the jocks of the 80’s grew up and still act like it’s high school and nerds are lame.
Anonymous wrote:Why is he playing a video game instead of interacting with his child? So cringe. Really, OP. I would ask him not to play when the kid is around. Like, at all!

That needs to be done while the kids are asleep (like my DH does) or in a different room if they're awake. To let a kid watch a violent video game invites all sorts of questions that your kid will have in his/her head but likely won't even ask: what is death? What is a gun? Will someone shoot me? What if someone shoots mom? Just extreme bad-dream fuel if you ask me.
There are lots of super unhelpful replies here (seems like a gamer crowd caught wind of this maybe?). Probably none of them parents of 5yos or if they are, they seem like bad ones. Maybe they also think it's ok to inflict actual violence on their kids--who knows. Trust your instincts about protecting your kid from the harsh reality of life until he/she is older and can process it better.
Sorry that won't help you with the husband issue. He's got to agree or you have to start taking the kid out of the room when it happens. That's not a great bargain for you, but I bet this isn't the only issue where he isn't great.
I’m not sure what kind of 5-year-old you have, but even my speech-delayed child with ASD asks about everything, provided he's interested.
Though, I think you’re also overestimating how much they’d think about what’s going on in a video game unless they’re actually interested in it.
