The hardest hit areas literally weren’t even inside “the cone” 48 hours before the hurricane hit. So the people telling everyone to look at weather reports (or expecting DeSantis to evacuate his whole state???) are nuts. The hurricane was originally coming directly for Tampa or north of Tampa. It ended up hardly hitting Tampa. DeSantis repeatedly said that there was a lot more uncertainty for this one than is typical for hurricanes and that we all had to watch closely for any changes.
+1 The people blaming DeSantis for the failure of residents to use their common sense and evacuate are clearly partisan hacks. By all measures, DeSantis has done a great job given what information he had. He told people to evacuate. Not a lot of sympathy for anyone who chose to stay.
