[twitter]https://twitter.com/patriottakes/status/1563565502357999616?s=20&t=Zf1PvQ8YAPJtDGm_MFnlZw[/twitter] In McLean this morning. Anyone see this slime?
He's driving a 10 year old 2013 Cadillac Escalade. They both seem extremely pretentious, very surprised they haven't upgraded to something newer.
It’s the last year of the Hybrid. You’d rather him upgrade to a non hybrid?
It's not actually a hybrid in the way you think, you don't plug it in and it doesn't have electric power only mode for around town. The new, 2023 Escalade actually gets far better mileage than this decade old "hybrid" rig. Those GM era "hybrids" were worthless, they were quickly discontinued, they are now obsolete and very expensive to fix. I'm surprised he's driving that old thing around -- unless they have money troubles. It would seem a GOP tax guru miser and business owner like him would realize it's more advantageous to buy a new Escalade, if he likes them. At his age and wealth, who wants to deal with a decade old complex Cadillac breaking and being in the shop. Plus the new one has heated, cooled, messaging seats, which I'm sure the hobbled missus would appreciate.
You might want to check your figures on that.
Seeing how my husband drives a 2022 Escalade, I speak on good authority. 2022 Escalade 21 city / 27 highway 2013 Escalade Hybrid 20 city / 23 highway
I guess we will disagree on the definition of "far better." If the 2013 is still running well, there's no reason to upgrade for an additional 1 mpg. Drive it until the first major repair and then get rid of it.
11% better combined mpg in a gas guzzling V8 which requires premium fuel is far better by any definition. And a 10 year old bankrupt era GM Cadillac feels terrible. The new one is exponentially better. And I’m also sure that decade old Hybrid rig has already had major service is.
How much highway driving do you think anyone does around here? Can you get me a copy of the service records for Newt's Escalade?
Probably has fewer than 15,000 miles on it and he suckered someone else into paying for it.
