In fact, they are quite humble and often low key.  They dress casual - after all WHO do they need to impress?  They certainly don't care what the afore mention snifflier than thous think. I can't say this enough.  Very few people seem to get this.

Try to overlook their plastic ways.  Yes, they are shallow; yes, it will be hard to make friends with people like this.  But it seems if you are surrounded, try your best to make the best of it.  Try not to think you are better than them.

Honestly (since this is anonymous) I feel sorry for the group I mentioned.  Akin to the group you reference, they are trying too hard.

What drew you to that area?  A job?  Tired of D.C.?  Unfortunately, there is that part of social strata everywhere.  Some call them social climbers.  The irony is that it is not a group many care to be with.  The funny part is, well, they are humorous without realizing.
