Yes, too high but the Fairfax Stars probably has high overhead costs to cover. We paid it because we are looking for a back-up team for our son. We were impressed with the coaches we met but many of the players who showed up to try out were not up to AAU level. A great coach can only so so much in one season.

Some of these AAU organizations hire staff (see other thread on costs, for profit or non-profit). I don't know what's reasonable to pay in travel sports especially basketball teams with mostly volunteer coaches and lower gym cost overhead. Tournaments can be expensive but younger teams don't go every weekend.[/quote]

Even if that’s the case, you make up the cost when team is selected. You do not charge $50 for tryouts. That’s ludicrous and my high schooler plays an elite team (Takeover, New World, Durant level). [/quote]
