Sat Feb 26th at 11:30 at Liberty MS. Vienna/Nova Cavs coach is the 4 seed vs. the 5 seed team.
If he's such a great coach, I wonder why he's coaching the Vienna D2 team instead of their better D1 team.........
I went to watch it and was so impressed with the other team’s commitment to play all ten of their players. I’m not sure I saw him make more than one substitution. He won by 2 points though. The other team had a couple of good little players but they all played and subbed out for some time. This is what’s right when you are impacting the confidence of 10 year olds. Kudos to a good game played by all.

At tryouts, all is well but after a few practices the real coach shows up. DS's current coach screams too much and intimidates but the last coach couldn't direct the team.
I really do appreciate their efforts but bad coaching turns the kids off.

Yes, too high but the Fairfax Stars probably has high overhead costs to cover. We paid it because we are looking for a back-up team for our son. We were impressed with the coaches we met but many of the players who showed up to try out were not up to AAU level. A great coach can only so so much in one season.
If they are getting FCPS gyms for tryouts, their overhead isn’t higher than any other AAU org.
Some of these AAU organizations hire staff (see other thread on costs, for profit or non-profit). I don't know what's reasonable to pay in travel sports especially basketball teams with mostly volunteer coaches and lower gym cost overhead. Tournaments can be expensive but younger teams don't go every weekend.

minutes) and he harangued the referees the whole game and screamed like a maniac. The only coach all season from opposing teams who was memorable at all and not in a good way.
My son played for his team for a season. He will peg your kid fast and it will be hard without that initial playing time to ever have your kid get to show their talent in a game. Also, his nephew is playing for him, FYI. So hopefully your kid isn't a point guard like him.
What is it with Vienna coaches and crazy? The fifth grade girls coach thinks he's Bobby Knight

The roster is already filled for the Nova94 5th grade team. That said, the coach this year is fantastic.
Who is the coach? Just curious.
