For the hundredth time MCPS does NOT do a background check on anyone. If there is a former employer in the education field a phone call is made plus the routine NCIC check which might show previous arrests. No more. No less. A proper background check can take up to a year. No way that MCPS can do that with 2000 new hires per year.[/quote]

I am not sure what you consider a background check.  I was fingerprinted, had my previous employer called and they searched for a criminal record on me.   If that is not a background check, I am not sure what you consider acceptable.[/quote]
