There's a hundred thousand kids in DC schools. Those kids have a couple hundred thousand parents and grandparents. How many people voted in the last off-year mayoral primary? Maybe 60,000? It won't take many pissed off parents to throw everyone out.

Let’s say you‘re angry because some random local D politician did something unjust last year. Local D prosecutor came down extra hard on a group of black kids. So then, out of spite, you voted for the R governor - even though nothing he can say/do will change what happened with that local politician.
