Did anyone’ kid not get a great score? Our kid barely broke over 1000 🙁 We are in serious trouble because we had been hoping for some merit aid. GPA is only 3.8 unweighted
My kid got a 1000 but he is 2E. Might do test prep over the summer since he doesn't have any other plans. I thought he'd get a lot higher based on his IQ testing.
I mentioned above that my freshman got an 1120-- he's 2e as well. I think test prep could really help-- especially if you're dealing with slower processing speed and anxiety. We're definitely doing some test prep over the summer, especially for the harder to finish sections.
I'm curious why your kid took this as a freshman, and why you would do test prep before sophomore year rather than before junior year.
pp here-- he's at a private school and they have them take the PSAT freshman and sophomore year-- I was surprised too, but it's a college prep school, so that's just what they're doing. We didn't make a big deal out of the test and neither did the school. I suppose it makes sense that if Freshman grades are going on a college transcript that they should also be thinking about standardized test scores.
