Men, oth, could be superficial because they held all the power and bank accounts.  Now that things are more equal, they are not happy that women are being just as superificial.

It's more online dating that caused this, less so women being financially independent. Online dating led to a small number of attractive men monopolizing casual sex which coincided with the rise of hookup culture. Most men are locked out of hookup culture which leads many to become frustrated and bitter.[/quote]
