I just tried on a bunch of jeans from Madewell, Old Navy, and Levi's. Most of them came over my belly button.

Madewell (a few different pairs): too high in the rise, too loose in the hip and thigh, terrible rear view (huge pockets), flattened my butt
Old Navy: too high in the rise
Levi's 724: too high in the rise, fabric was thin
Levi's classic straight: best of the bunch, stretchier than I wanted, but a decent fit (and fit over my cowboy boots). 30" inseam worked well for me, but they come in 28" and 32", too.

Pretty soon it will be too hot for jeans in DC anyhow. Who knows what we will want to wear come fall and (I am hoping!) the return to socializing.
