When folks say "new middle school at the GDS lower school", are you meaning that current Hardy MS would stay where it is? I thought we had been talking about moving Hardy to GDS and putting a new HS at Hardy site? 2022, meaning it's possible that current 4th graders at Key and Stoddert might go to 6th grade in a new MS at the GDS site, or to Hardy MS move in the GDS site? What are those '9th only" and "3rd-5th only" options for? Also the GDS site?
DCPS has not said much about grandfathering. On one slide it seems like it would be something they still need to decide, and they note the pluses and minuses of more or less grandfathering. On another they seem to say that they might do what they did with the boundary process, which was to give 3 years and let siblings feed to the same school. So who knows?
Use the term legacy. It's more accurate. Grandfathering/grandfather clause is from post Civil War voter suppression of Black men while letting poor white men vote.
