The mom has something to do with it. This is a no brainer to me. I could be wrong; I'll drink her box of Franzia wine if I am. But there's too much pointing to her for me to accept some stranger just stumbled upon the house and snatched the baby.

It's a possibility the mom has a drinking/partying problem and a family member or acquaintance who wanted a baby decided to take the baby to "raise it better." You know those crazy types. In which case at least there wouldn't be reason to think the baby was dead or anything less than being properly cared for.
