Little kids enjoying running away from the vacuum--make it a game that they have to get EVERYTHING off the floor and put away, otherwise the monster vacuum will eat it up! (you can also put googly eyes or other decoration on your vac to encourage this "game" 
-get rid of stuff. We had friends who lived in an apartment half the size of ours but it always looked immaculate. It was because they kept very little by way of toys and clothes. [/quote]
