They just emailed and cancelled week 1
If they are going to cancel, they need to just do it, instead of a week at a time. If it's not safe to do week 1, then weeks 2, 3, and 4 aren't safe either.
Disagree, and that’s not the approach they are taking—their email said they would make week-by-week decisions. Week 1 is before the end of MCPS, and one of their lighter weeks - so it makes perfect sense to me that that would be more likely to be cancelled than the following weeks.
If they are making a financial decision. From a safety perspective, a lighter week would be safer. What is going to be different about week 2? Stringing it out just makes it harder to make alternative plans.
Week 2 will be a week further out. In a pandemic when things can change rapidly, it is not all or nothing. You want them to make a decision for the whole summer now. If you want to withdraw your kid and have certainty; you have a few more weeks to do that, though you will lost your deposit. They have been very clear that they are taking this on a week-by-week basis. If safety is your top concern, then I’m not sure why you still have your kids enrolled.
I will happily drive my kids out there if they stay open but need to forgo the bus
