If they are going to cancel, they need to just do it, instead of a week at a time. If it's not safe to do week 1, then weeks 2, 3, and 4 aren't safe either.
Disagree, and that’s not the approach they are taking—their email said they would make week-by-week decisions. Week 1 is before the end of MCPS, and one of their lighter weeks - so it makes perfect sense to me that that would be more likely to be cancelled than the following weeks.
If they are making a financial decision. From a safety perspective, a lighter week would be safer.
What is going to be different about week 2?
Stringing it out just makes it harder to make alternative plans.
Week 2 will be a week further out. In a pandemic when things can change rapidly, it is not all or nothing. You want them to make a decision for the whole summer now. If you want to withdraw your kid and have certainty; you have a few more weeks to do that, though you will lost your deposit. They have been very clear that they are taking this on a week-by-week basis. If safety is your top concern, then I’m not sure why you still have your kids enrolled.
I will happily drive my kids out there if they stay open but need to forgo the bus

From their email:
OPTION A:
For those who would like to stay invested in Calleva and help sustain our year-round team (the people who support summer camp all year long), there are 2 choices:
1. Receive a refund for camp and your $150 non-refundable registration fee becomes a credit in your Calleva account. If you want to keep your entire 2020 camp tuition as a credit in your Calleva account, please let us know. Whatever the amount, your credit can be used for 2021 camp registration OR for any of the following Calleva programs over the next 18 months: River School (kayaking, rafting), Calleva Horse Adventures, Farm & Forest Cubs, a group experience (for adults and kids!), or any Calleva farm event. Credits expire on September 1, 2021.
2. Receive a refund for camp & convert your $150 per week non-refundable registration fee to a tax-deductible donation to Calleva (a 501c3 organization). In this case, Calleva will provide you with a receipt for your tax purposes. Families who choose to donate at least their per-camper deposit amount will receive exclusive access to 2021 Summer Camp PRE-REGISTRATION, (BEFORE next year's regular Returning Family Registration).
OPTION B:
Receive a refund for camp tuition, and Calleva will split the non-refundable deposit with you. We will give you $75, included in the amount of your refund check & mailed to your address via USPS. This allows you to receive some cash back right away, while helping Calleva cover fees & other administrative expenses associated with your 2020 camp registration.
Wait - that looks like the same announcement they made about cancellations a few weeks ago. So, if they cancel, you still don't get the deposits back? We are waiting on week 2, for multiple kids, and it seems like we may just as well cancel now, right?
