You may be correct in terms of predicting how our governments will respond.  I think that would be a terrible shame however.  Every 80 year I have spoken with does not wish to live at the expense of their grandchildrens' normal childhoods of which social interactions including sports are a key part.

I think it would be an especially terrible shame given that
-  evidence is increasingly strong that the virus' virulence is not nearly as bad as was initially feared with most credible estimates now suggesting a fatality rate of 0.2% to 0.4% (i.e. worse than the 'flu, but not massively worse)
-  there is evidence (e.g. Lancet study) that, unlike influenza, corona viruses are not easily spread by children in any case.

That of course is just my opinion.
