I would argue that your reading of the situation is not nearly as universal as you think.

What a lot of people saw was a woman with a credible story who was completely disregarded while her red-faced, beer-loving alleged assaulter was treated with kid gloves, while he shouted his way through a job interview for one of the best jobs in the world. There was virtually no examination of his alleged assault - and we all saw that, and there will be consequences. These are the consequences.

I would say Susan Collins made the decision, in this hearing, that it was more important to cater to stalwart Republicans - especially Republican men - than it was to think about independents, or (gasp) women. A woman who many of us related to, saw ourselves in, came forward with what sounded to us like credible accusations - and instead of taking them seriously, Collins voted for the guy.

That, plus her completely disingenuous feint about protecting Roe, made it clear that women can't trust her.

I know you disagree. I'm sure you'll argue for why your view of it is right. Maine voters are the ones who will get to decide if they think she did them right.[/quote]
