I'm merely curious as to the woman in black. Who is she? Looks Spanish or Italian to me. As for Rose Cholmondeley, was she invited because her husband was there? Is there a protocol that requires his attendance at these state events?
Sarah Vine, a Daily Mail (the "Fail") columnist. She wrote an article about Meghan and used the word "niggling," and was criticized for it as suggestive of something racial. Her husband is an MP, Michael Gove.
It feels like you are answering questions nobody asked
DP here: Sarah Vine is the "woman in black". The OP inquired as to who the woman is and the PP answered the question.
Sarah Vine is more well known for hating Kate. Interesting that William's romantic partner chose to walk in with her. I'm thinking this Rose is stating she has thorns. It's all precedence and decided in advance. I find it more interesting that Mrs. Steve Mnuchin was in the Lifetime movie about Will and Kate. That seems much more of an awkward situation to me.
I'd argue that Rose Hanbury walking in with a Daily Mail columnist is quite the statement. Not only is Sarah Vine not aristocracy and Rose is, but Rose's title as Marchioness of Cholmondeley assured (at least previously so) that she would walk into State Banquets ABOVE British women titled with only Ms./Mrs or even just Lady. So WTH happened here? I think Kate tried to put her foot down (again) and Rose knew just how to twist in her thorns being an aristo born to aristocrats.
