OP here. Just looked up, there are about 3 million people in NoVa, making Jews about 4%. But there are clearly some areas with almost no Jews, eg the Route 1 corridor, parts of Prince William, much of South Arlington, upper Great Falls, etc. So, either the demographic estimates are off, or you'd think there would be a few schools with >10%.
Why do you think there are no Jews in S. Arlington?
There are (at least) two in my kid's class in South Arlington, both are from interfaith families
My kids have a total of 18 years in So. Arlington schools, and my over those 18 years have had in their class/TA a grand total of 1 Jewish kid, one kid with a Jewish mom who was only vaguely aware her mom was Jewish and isn't being raised such, and one kid with distant Jewish ancestry who is Catholic. With some overlap that's maybe 300 classmates, 1 Jewish classmate. The teachers, btw, have been lovely about it, inserting chanukah material into "winter holiday" material that's really all about Christmas, inviting us in to talk about Hanukkah, etc.
