There are many many social climbers in this town. The people who are clambering to get their kids are those who wish to be associated with the "elite." Keep in mind, this is true of most of the private schools in the area, but it is definitely true about St. Patrick's.[/quote]

Not a Chevy Chase club member or a St Patrick’s parent (yet- we’re accepted and considering), but isn’t that club one of the most elite in the region? I will never be a country club member as I’m middle class and don’t golf, but heck, even I’ve heard of that club as one of the most elite. [/quote]

It’s not elite. It has become a magnet for the republican crowd and in recent years a lot of social climbers have joined. Congressional is by far the most elite club in the area followed by Columbia. [/quote]
