Please explain what sets CW apart. He is a very good coach for girls. His approach works for many girls and he is a good trainer but how does he compare to the other coaches inside of and outside of McLean. I get the sense that Clyde develops the players and then moves them up to other coaches as they get older.
Not sure what age groups Clyde coaches now, but he has coached several high school aged girls teams to national championships, he coached the Washington Freedom back in the hey day before the women's league went defunct and reincarnated to what it is now, coached boys teams before that, and has been honored as national youth coach of the year. Clyde was a great player at Clemson way back when--he played for the great Dr. I. M. Ibrahim and won a ton of ACC titles and possibly a natty. He was on the famous Clemson team that had Big Clyde and Little Clyde--he was the latter. The guy just really knows soccer. He is thoughtful, and always prepared. His training sessions are purposeful and players are always engaged. Soccer is the guy's life, in addition to his wonderful spouse and his kids. He just really knows soccer, and has been able to educate, prepare and motivate thousands of players over the years. Maybe six or seven years ago, the NCAA women's final four had at least one of his former players on each team. That's remarkable. There is a lot that sets Clyde apart.
