https://www.eia.gov/tools/faqs/faq.php?id=32&t=6
According to EIA we still import about 25% of petroleum products. Which means our economy can still easily be held hostage but foreign entities. Even if you're a hardcore Trump supporter and you dont believe in Climate change or the apparent effect of vehicular pollution it is still in our best interest economically, financially and regarding our security that we get out of OIL.
They don't care. They will burn down the country before they admit that liberal policies are good. Remember how a few decades ago, good conservatives could get behind cap and trade? Not anymore. It's heresy to admit that cutting back on fuel consumption, or even pollution, is a good thing.
I also remember a few decades ago when lib activists and scientists were telling everyone we were heading into another ice age. We were indoctrinated with that in grade school in the 70's. Everyone thought by 2000 we'd be living like Inuits, with glaciers everywhere, starving because we couldn't grow enough food because the world would be so cold by then. It's the polar opposite (pun intended) of the nonsense being prattled about today. Fool me once....
And I remember when more information came to light thanks to continued scientific research, the model changed to reflect our improved understanding of the issue. Unlike what conservatives would have done, the "lib activists and scientists " didn't dig in their heels and continue to insist on the threat of a looming ice age despite the new evidence.
