So you're in a minority in your high school, so what, the whole rest of everything is white in the US.  Turn on the tv, look at magazines, read history, go to movies, look at the politicians, probably the teachers also.  There is no shortage of white folks for your kids to see/hear/be around/learn about/find as role models.  Will you stop acting like it's the same thing as being a minority in this country? Seriously.  We aren't white. We live in a community that is majority non-white.  And yet my toddler still seems to have come to the conclusion that "Americans are white".  I did not say anything remotely like this to him but somehow he came to that conclusion by watching TV, traveling, etc.  [/quote]

A lot of my friends of color from other countries use 'Americans' to refer to white people. It is interesting to me because as a white American I don't think that way but their experience is different than mine.  [/quote]
