I don't see why a practice would be official roster issues, but I don't know the guest rules outside of official DP (development players). From what has been going on this year, it seems guest players (not DPs) may be allowed in showcases.

A Developmental Player may appear in a maximum of six (6) Academy games per season. Developmental Players cannot participate in the Academy Playoffs or Academy Championships. i think any more than 6, and not changed to FT endangers the eligibility status of that team.

Whether or nor Arlington will allow it, that seems pretty club specific, but check that above DP link and the potential pitfalls.
