Can anyone clarify what McConnell’s statement actually means? This doesn’t look like a promise to do anything. McConnell said from the Senate floor Sunday night that "should these issues not be resolved by the time the funding bill before us expires on February 8, 2018, assuming that the government remains open, it would be my intention to proceed to legislation that would address (the expiring Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program), border security, and related issues."
I take it to mean he’ll allow bills on those things on the floor - he’s lately just been saying no to bills/discussions of certain issues. Now couldn’t it happen that they again ignore all this stuff until Feb 7, govt is still open so he must allow bills so he does, in the 11th he there is so much disagreement that ppl start attaching these things to the budget vote to get them thru and we shutdown again?
