I really don't see a huge problem with Jimothy – as long as you make sure he always has the option of going by Jim. Jimothy may strike many as a bizarre made up name, but it's been around for a few years. I personally know a Jimothy working at my local Safeway, great boy. We named my first DD after both of her (then) recently passed grandmothers – Mary and Esther – Masther, or Mas for short. She has never dealt with any bullying and really loves her name. So: you do you, OP! But if you're only doing it to stick with the J names, don't.
That is god-awful. It's like someone with a speech impediment trying to say "Master" OP, your child will not feel left out if his name doesn't start with a J. My DH's older brothers were David and Daniel, and DH's first name was alliterative with the dog's name. He really doesn't care.
Maybe one day Masther will marry that fine young man, Jimothy, and they will name their baby Masjim.
 This PP must be fake, because that kid wouldn't make it through an hour of school without being labeled Masther-bater.
