My mom and MIL chose their dresses on their own.  Each chose long and pink independently.  I wore white and bridesmaids a coral.  
For OP's wedding the crème depends on the shade of crème and the style.

That color is SO BORING, no matter how many sequins you stick on it or how much it costs.  I would never make my mother wear anything so drab and dull and unflattering.  Barf.  Let your mom wear whatever she wants.  No one is going to mistake her for the bride or a bridesmaid.    [/quote]
