People in MoCo are so obsessed with masks - most people I run across are even wearing them OUTSIDE. This is ridiculous. I am a Democrat and vaccinated and I do not understand this. Who is this helping? The vast majority of the people in Loco MoCo are vaccinated. It's time to stop worrying about the few that refuse to get it.
No, they're not. Either you're greatly exaggerating, or you're just plain lying.
NP. This might be a tad anecdotal but we were at a VA state park over the weekend. While parking and then getting ready to leave we noticed not a few passengers from cars with MD plates exiting their cars and then very carefully and deliberately masking up - both adults and young people, regardless of age. Outside. To go hiking or exploring. It wasn’t even overly crowded. Completely and utterly bizarre.
Yes, this is anecdotal but that is my experience as well. They mask up in the parking lot, then maybe pull it down under their chin once they get on the trail, but then it goes right back up if they encounter another hiker. Ultimately, I don't really care if they do it. It's their faces; why should I care? But I also think that this type of behavior ultimately contributes to the policy making decisions, so I wish the leadership in the community would acknowledge the overkill with behavior like that. And that eventually, people would abandon it and feel more comfortable going without, which would then also trickle down into more reasonable common sense policy. The leadership knows they can 'get away' with these silly masking decisions because there are so many people like the masked hikers
OMG. Why would "leadership" want to "get away" with masking mandates? What motivation do you suspect here? You anti-maskers are the ones who are bizarre. You are acting like weirdo conspiracy theorists instead of realizing that "leadership" are just trying to make policies to help slow the spread of COVID. That's it. I am not aware of any mandates for people to wear masks outdoors. Mandates about indoor masking were based on knowledge of how COVID spreads and are reasonable, and many of those have been lifted as we track local cases. If someone else decides to keep wearing one, how in the heck does that impact YOU? You don't know why they are doing it. Maybe they were just inside and are walking to another place where they will need it inside. Many of us just don't bother taking them off if we know we'll just have to put them back on shortly, not because we are afraid of catching COVID walking down the street. We have seen over the past almost two years how the number of cases is far from a static thing or even a single-direction trend. Things are better and then they get worse again. Cases are surging in Europe again. There are concerns that could happen here in the coming weeks. Why is it so hard for some of you to just wear a mask sometimes as we try to negotiate a world-wide pandemic that is constantly evolving? Where knowledge is constantly evolving. Our kids are in school. Our kids are getting vaccinated. Who cares about people who like to wear masks? No one is making you wear one outside. No one is forcing you to stay home. What the heck are you so bothered about?
