I think if the antimaskers had used common sense and masked in grocery stores and pharmacies, the two places where sick people may need to really go, they could have kept the rates down and masks off.

Your stoner friend probably shared a bong or bowl with her dealer. They filled the room with covid filled pot exhaust. Dumb.

We've never had masks required in gyms, ever. Not now, not in June 2020 of last year. I've taken cardio classes with 20-70 people every Sunday, indoors, no masks, and have never gotten covid. I chat face to face with the same people every week, and know they're mostly vaccinated and have been healthy as well week after week.

And you think you're going to get covid walking past an unmasked person at Safeway, while vaccinated? You are nuts.

Some of you really need to step outside of your paranoid bubble, or just isolate yourselves forever. Expecting the rest of the world to indefinitely cover their faces, while being vaccinated and zero indication of being sick with anything... is just deranged. Time to take charge of your own health and stop expecting everyone around you to put on a show for your failing mental health.

I have seen very few people in MoCo in cloth masks since vaccines are available. Most people realize you need to have at least a surgical mask or better to be more effective.

The only people obsessed with masks are a-hats like you.

No, they're not. Either you're greatly exaggerating, or you're just plain lying.

NP. This might be a tad anecdotal but we were at a VA state park over the weekend. While parking and then getting ready to leave we noticed not a few passengers from cars with MD plates exiting their cars and then very carefully and deliberately masking up - both adults and young people, regardless of age. Outside. To go hiking or exploring. It wasn’t even overly crowded.
Completely and utterly bizarre.

Yes, this is anecdotal but that is my experience as well. They mask up in the parking lot, then maybe pull it down under their chin once they get on the trail, but then it goes right back up if they encounter another hiker.

Ultimately, I don't really care if they do it. It's their faces; why should I care? But I also think that this type of behavior ultimately contributes to the policy making decisions, so I wish the leadership in the community would acknowledge the overkill with behavior like that. And that eventually, people would abandon it and feel more comfortable going without, which would then also trickle down into more reasonable common sense policy.

The leadership knows they can 'get away' with these silly masking decisions because there are so many people like the masked hikers

OMG. Why would "leadership" want to "get away" with masking mandates? What motivation do you suspect here?

You anti-maskers are the ones who are bizarre. You are acting like weirdo conspiracy theorists instead of realizing that "leadership" are just trying to make policies to help slow the spread of COVID. That's it.

I am not aware of any mandates for people to wear masks outdoors. Mandates about indoor masking were based on knowledge of how COVID spreads and are reasonable, and many of those have been lifted as we track local cases. If someone else decides to keep wearing one, how in the heck does that impact YOU? You don't know why they are doing it. Maybe they were just inside and are walking to another place where they will need it inside. Many of us just don't bother taking them off if we know we'll just have to put them back on shortly, not because we are afraid of catching COVID walking down the street.

We have seen over the past almost two years how the number of cases is far from a static thing or even a single-direction trend. Things are better and then they get worse again. Cases are surging in Europe again. There are concerns that could happen here in the coming weeks. Why is it so hard for some of you to just wear a mask sometimes as we try to negotiate a world-wide pandemic that is constantly evolving? Where knowledge is constantly evolving. Our kids are in school. Our kids are getting vaccinated. Who cares about people who like to wear masks? No one is making you wear one outside. No one is forcing you to stay home. What the heck are you so bothered about?

Until the summer I saw people masked outside all the time. There were even a handful of people in my neighborhood that would still cross the street to avoid passing you on the sidewalk.

But that ended over the summer and never came back. Sure, I see masking in the parking lot before going into a store. And I see a (finally small) number of parents/kids masking at playgrounds, but that's about it.

Are some people wearing masks outside? Yes, especially people who are waiting for the bus (masks required), and people who have just come out of indoor places where they were wearing masks. Are most people wearing masks outside? Absolutely not.

I see a lot outside too. And not just walking to and from the car, but strolling down the street. Bizarre.

+100

Outside. And cloth masks. Most not worn correctly. Bizarre and a little pathetic.
