TOTALLY IRRELEVANT if the woman in the video is an actress, Republican or from the moon. IT IS ABOUT what is APPPROPRIATE for CHILDREN to learn in school. While the Chinese spent 12+ hours a day leaning academic topics- math, science, etc. we in the US are creating a generation of anxious, confused, illiterate, nonskilled people who WILL BE the SERVANTS to the wealthy and Chinese. My children do NOT need to learn about about their teachers' politics or that someone's children have 2 mommies or 2 daddies or a polyamorous triad for parents. (Neither do I - don't know, don't care) My children need to be able to read and write English (including spelling & script!), do math (including memorizing their multiplication tables and mental math), understand civics and American History (including the Declaration, Bill of Rights & Constitution, and even what socialist and communism really are and why Americans have embraced capitalism) and other academic subjects, including science. Never in a million years did I think I would home school my children, but that is what I am doing. A group of my friends have decided we are done with the BS & have formed our own school.
Heather Has Two Mommies (or whatever that book is called) is just a book about a family. Books for children depicting and promoting sex acts are ENTIRELY different.
Lord in Heaven. There is nothing in either book “promoting sex acts”. And to the PP above…nothing in this or any school library book is taking away from your child learning multiplication tables. Complete reactionary nutjobs.
Np here clearly you haven't seen the books but they show and depict sex acts aka pornography. You are clearly not a parent to be upset. In the rare event you are a parent well, please keep your kids out of public schools since you have no filter nor compass as a parent
I **HAVE*** read the books. Both of them. Neither book is pornographic, not even close. Of course I do not want my 3rd grader checking out Gender Queer....but he is not in high school. Once he is in high school, I would not have a problem with it. The entire book itself is actually quite sensitive, and the pages that people are freaking out about, in context, depict a rare and much needed scene where two young adults negotiate consent and boundaries with each other with kindness and understanding. The page is not sexy. No one is going to be seeking it out or using it for arousal purposes....actual p*Rn is accessible with a couple of clicks on just about any non-school device. I find it absolutely appalling that people like you are commenting when you obviously have not read either book. The whole book. It's laughable that you accuse me of not reading it!
