IRL doubtful that every sib, their spouse or significant other would drop everything and arrange childcare to sit in a waiting room for 1-2 days straight if they were at a local hospital much less fly across the country for it.

Kevin's behavior was fueled by alcohol. Randall's was fueled by his 24/7 fixit complex. 
The most shocking interactions were the times Beth snaped at Miguel. What did he ever do or say to her to warrant her attitude towards him? Beth never knew Jack. Jack wasn't her father. Kate isn't her sister and from what we've seen they get along okay most of the time, but didn't appear to be particularly close at. 
She chose to leave her children when child care was a hot button issue a day or so before in tv time yet she got snippy with Miguel. It seeme out of character for her.[/quote]
