I understand why the employee who received the bribes get to go to jail. In what way is it illegal for the parents to bribe the coach (or whoever)? Say I go to an Apple store and bribe the cashier there something to set aside a new iPhone on the day it comes out, how am I doing anything illegal? Understand what the clerk is doing IS illegal but that's not my problem, is it??? Serious question guys, don't go off on tangents..
You're stupid. You're basically saying if a mob boss asked an underling to kill someone, because he didn't physically commit the crime he shouldn't be arrested for coercion and conspiracy to commit murder? PLEASE. The parents knowingly committed the crime of: - Falsifying their kids test scores - Purchasing a spot of admittance in what is supposed to be a merit-based application process - Bribing inter-state officials - Hiding their payments as a charity donation (committing a felony) - Wire fraud and mail fraud in doing so They deserve everything that is coming to them.
